The Trial Run – Using My Golf GPS for the First Time

Early one Saturday morning, I loaded up my car.  It promised to be a beauty of a day – the sun was shining and the temperature was just right.  golf rangefinders It was a perfect day for golf.  I was anxious to hit the links and try out my new golf caddy GPS.

A day like this screamed for adventure! Since there are no longer bad guys to fire toy pistols at, I decided on a more tame trip – a visit to a golf course I had never played at before.  I wanted to put my new toy to a test and see if it really would help my game. Using my golf caddy GPS, I downloaded the course before I left. I was amazed that I could see the entire course, hole by hole, before I even started driving.  Excitedly, I started planning out my game. I knew what I would need to do to reach the green in regulation. This was going to be my best score ever.

On the second hole, the fairway bent around with several large trees. I couldn’t see where to hit the ball.  So I consulted my golf GPS. Figuring out the distance, I chose the appropriate club and hit a perfect shot. I landed right in the middle of the bend on the fairway. From there, I had a straight shot to get onto the green.

This course was out to get me!  A few holes later, I came across both a water and sand hazard. Usually, I’d be digging my way out. This time, I used my GPS to plan the shot. I landed right in the fairway! So, did my golf GPS improve my game?  In this situation, yes.  It helped me plan out my shots and know what was coming up. It couldn’t correct my slice or how hard I hit the ball.  But overall, it was definitely a good purchase.
